This project is really simple and takes almost no time. I think it would be perfect for a big sister who wants to be just like mommy. Happy Sewing!
Supplies Needed:
Fabric
Coordinating Thread
Sewing Machine
Pins
Baby Doll
Measuring Tape
Step One: Measure the length of your doll. Cut your body piece ten inches wide and the length of your doll plus six inches. So since my doll was 15in. long my body piece was 21in x 10in.
Step Two: Measure your child from the left shoulder to her right side. Cut your strap piece 6in wide and the length of your measurement. Mine was 6in x 12in. My daughter is two years old. I'm sure those measurements would work for most two year olds.
Step three: Fold your strap piece in half lengthwise and sew the raw edges together.
Step four: Turn your strap inside out.
Step five: Take your body piece and fold in the sides twice and pin. Lengthwise. You could iron if your not as lazy as me.
Step six: Sew the areas you just pinned.
Step seven: Take your strap and lay it out flat. Note: From now on you will repeat the steps on both sides of the body piece. Make pleats on the ends of your body piece. Start in the middle and work the sides in so it will fit into your strap. Securely pin.
Step eight: Carefully sew a straight stitch to keep your pleats in place. Don't sew over your needles. That would turn out bad.
Step nine: Take your strap and fold your raw edge inside.
Step ten: Place your pleated body piece into your strap and pin.
Step eleven: Sew together with a zig zag stitch.
Step twelve: Admire your work.
It kinda looks like a giant headband.
I'll be linking up to these fun parties.
