Fabric Crown {Tutorial}

Photobucket

Supplies Needed:

1/4 yard of fabric
Fusible Fleece (I used Pellon 987F)
Cardstock
Elastic (8 inches)
Sewing Machine
Coordinating Thread

Start by making a stencil using cardstock.  I forgot to mark the "fold" in this pic, but I hope you can figure it out.  :)

Cut out two crown pieces with fabric and one with the fusible fleece.  If you want to add an applique to the fabric do it now.  I think it's cute to add a name or initial.

Iron the fusible fleece to the wrong side of one of the crown pieces. Follow the directions on your fleece.

Take your two pieces and pin them with the right sides facing.  Using a 1/4 in. seem allowance sew around the perimeter.  Leave a two inch opening at the bottom for turning.

Cut the corners and notch the curves.

Turn right side out.  Tuck in the opening and iron.

Topstitch around the crown.

Grab your elastic.  I used an 8 inch piece for my 3 year old.  EEK!!  My baby's 3 years old!!  Sew your elastic to the crown.

Admire your work!
